SPIDERS AR 2015-12-15-spiders-ar

The SPIDERS AR application serves as a supplementary digital experience for the Spiders exhibition, which launched in November 2015 at Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra, Australia. Utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology and compatible smart devices, the app overlays scientifically accurate 3D spider models onto the physical environment, enhancing visitor engagement with the exhibit.

Access to this interactive content is facilitated through the discovery of publicly accessible activation markers. These are strategically placed in various locations, including magazine advertisements, select areas within Canberra’s city centre, outside the Questacon building, and within the Spiders exhibition itself.

Users can observe spiders coming to life in augmented reality by approaching these markers. The application allows users to move around the virtual models and interact with them through touch gestures, providing an immersive educational experience.

Participants are encouraged to share their interactions on social media using #spiders and @questacon on Facebook and Twitter, promoting community engagement with the exhibition.
